Greetings from Sportcamptravel! We have been enjoying catching up on some good Netflix shows and would like to share one in particular that we recently watched. Whether you’re a soccer player, soccer parent or just love sports, there’s no shortage of good content to watch on Netflix. Read on for Sportcamptravel’s review on one of Netflix’s latest release.

The Playbook: A Coach's Rules for Life

This docuseries is split into 5 episodes of about 30 minutes each. The coaches recount deep, inspirational stories, touch on sensitive subjects and share their own personal journeys. One of the things we love most is that it shows that being a professional athlete is not the only way to succeed in your sport; you can also become one of the greatest coaches of all the time. Today, we would like to talk more about soccer and in particular, José Mourinho, who is the protagonist of episode 3.

Portugal is renowned for it is rich soccer history. From superstars like Cristiano Ronaldo, Nani, Luis Figo and legendary Portuguese coaches like Fernando Santos, Leonardo Jardim, José Mourinho, this European nation certainly has no shortage of talent. Sportcamptravel itself has a deep connection with Portuguese soccer. Throughout the years, we have been working with Portuguese soccer academies, clubs like Sporting CP and S.L. Benfica, and soccer tryouts in Porto in collaboration with the Vice President of the Portuguese League.

Then show opens with a take of José Mourinho in his dark, stylish suit sitting on a brown leather armchair. José Mourinho is José Mourinho; he can be a gentleman, yet also tough, rude, and arrogant. As he says, “Please don’t call me arrogant because what I'm saying is true.” Each of us has a different opinion about him, but ultimately, he is one of the most successful soccer coaches of all time. José (pronounced jo-seh, and not ho-seh), was born in Setúbal, a small town outside of Lisbon. His dad was a soccer coach, so he was exposed to the game from a young age. He dreamed of greatness as a professional soccer player, but achieved it in a different way, perhaps an unexpected one. In the Playbook series, he shares his view on the game he loves and it is definitely worth watching it if you love soccer too.
